One of Axiom’s more recent and challenging productions was a video for ConocoPhillips Lower 48, communicating the “who”, “what” and “how” of their onshore operation in the United States. As ConocoPhillips largest business unit, the Lower 48 primarily operates in targeted shale basins in the US, with more than 21,000 O&G wells across the region.
The project began when the Lower 48 communications group approached Axiom with some clearly defined objectives; establish a brand presence for the newly formed business unit and inform external audiences, such as government entities, land owners and community stakeholders, of the Lower 48’s positive impact within their operating regions.
Axiom delivered with a compelling video, which launched on the ConocoPhillipsUSLower48 website in March and is frequently used today, both internally and externally, to communicate who the Lower 48 is, what they do in each region, and how their localized partnerships benefit each community.
The Lower 48 video utilized motion graphics, voice over, footage of operations and testimonials from ConocoPhillips employees. To create a more engaging experience, Axiom animators created motion infographics to visualize the Lower 48’s drilling process, key basins and the life cycle of the well.
Before any animations were created, Axiom started production with a planning session to determine how and where the film crew would capture footage of the Lower 48’s operating regions. Over a period of several weeks, Axiom facilitated video shoots in four US locations, recording the Lower 48’s geographic diversity while highlighting their various operations, employees in the field and the key basins in each region.
Following the release of the video, Axiom developed two motion infographics for use in a Lower 48 mobile app, created to further increase the Lower 48’s brand presence as well as visualize well depth and the lifecycle of a well in greater detail.
